Pilot Instructor Rabe reported to his new posting, Cap de le Madeleine on 9/19/41, a small
quiet town of 12,000 inhabitants 100 mi. east of Montreal on the St. Lawrence offered little
to do for non French speaking expatriates, except the flying and the thought of a short duty
assignment. On arrival at the Hotel St. Louis, Three Rivers, there was time to meet the
other pilots assigned to the station, some were friends from Cartierville & Trenton others
new from other stations. The brush fires were still burning up north in Sept. of 41 with
flight visibility's greatly reduced at only a couple of hundred feet of altitude.
