By September 7, 1940 the German air assault on England entered a new phase from daylight attacks on fighter airfields to concentrated night bombing of London in an effort to break the English spirit, two hundred plus German bombers for fifty seven nights attacked London in
an effort to reduce the city to a rubble heap, the German attacks had spread outward to other
cities, frequent day attacks were also routine but minor. "The city of London Is burning" said
the news broadcast to America by Ed Morrow and others, and the Londoners endured with
great loss and hardship but endured.
