well; The dark clouds of
war hanging over Europe
Poland already has fallen
to Nazi Germany, Britain
and France both declar-
ing war on Germany in
Sept. of 1939! Oh how
could there be another
war we just ended the war to end all wars in
1918 thought my Father
His Family and everyone
else, its so peaceful here
why think about it. In the
Spring of 1940 the Dobbs
Ferry Seaplane Base was
busy giving sightseeing
hops, instruction,etc.
Lt. Robert Tinay, USN.
was appointed Chief
Flying Instructor,
and from the previous
year, Mackay Holmes, of
Yonkers, NY, Flight
Instructor; William Kinser, Flight Instructor.
The above were taken in the Summer of 1939. By 1940 my Father was
Part Owner and Charter Member of the Westchester Private Fliers, Inc.
The Club is considering a contract from the CAA to train Government
sponsered Cadets to qualified pilots. The Yacht at anchor at the Base
was owned by the Gentleman Farmer of Dobbs Ferry who hauled fresh vegtables daily to the 1939 World's Fair at Flushing Meadow, NY
